When it comes to luxury watches, most of the attention goes to the dial and the case. However, watches are meant to be worn, and the strap or bracelet can be just as important for the aesthetics as anything else.
In fact, in some ways the strap is the most important part. That's what you're going to have on your wrist all day, and if it doesn't look spectacular or it's just plain uncomfortable, you're not going to get the luxury experience you were hoping for.
When it comes to straps, there are generally three different choices. There are metal bracelets, usually made out of stainless steel. They're tough, they're flexible, and they're often pretty shiny. They can up the glimmer and the glam of a luxury watch while being comfortable as well. Then there are nylon straps, which are more often seen on sports watches. They're tough and can take a beating, but they're not as luxurious looking as metal or leather.
Finally, there are leather straps. These are the most traditional option, and in many ways the most luxurious feeling. A good quality leather strap will be soft and supple, with just the right amount of give. It will age well, developing a patina over time that adds character and depth.
If you're looking for a luxury watch with a beautiful strap, there are plenty of great options out there. Here are just a few of our favorites that we have in stock here at WatchMaxx.
Has there ever been a more delicious combination than yellow gold tones and rich brown leather? We certainly don't think so.
This watch from Tissot has a beautiful, simple dial that lets the strap share the stage. The crocodile leather is nicely textured and incredibly comfortable. This is a watch that you can wear casually or to impress the important people at a high level meeting.
The complexity of the dial in this pilot watch is nicely offset by the light brown leather strap, which has some complexity of its own. We love the way the textures overlap with the stitching, and the light brown goes nicely with the dial's pitch black.
The Khaki Aviation Converter is a very modern looking watch, so the vintage feel of the leather is a welcome additional voice that elevates things into what is ultimately a superbly luxurious looking piece.
Tag Heuer has always expertly walked the fine line between excitement and luxury, and this Calibre 16 Chronograph is the perfect example of that.
The dial is a pure joy to look at. The red and white colors are a nod to the Indianapolis 500, and they look fantastic with the black leather strap. The Indy 500 logo is also a nice touch that takes this watch from luxurious to something that goes the extra lap to increase your heart rate.
The leather strap is very interesting on this piece as well. The holed texture is reminiscent of a steering wheel, which is a fantastic touch.
Of course, there's no law out there that says that leather straps have to be brown, light brown, or black. Take this Movado Evolution for example. It takes the iconic Movado look and makes it pretty in pink.
The rose gold tones are perfectly set off by the blush leather strap in a dance of luxurious drama. It's both playful and eye-catching, and it's a fantastic option for women who want something that's luxurious but still fun.
There's also no law that says how long a leather strap is supposed to be. Frederique Constant noticed this and decided it was time to make the strap the showstopping centerpiece.
We're completely in love with this bold statement watch that says you can wear your luxury timepiece however you like. The brown leather strap winds its way around the wrist in plush comfort that feels as amazing as it looks.
